Stomach Pain:
This is one of the first symptoms that I exhibited. It started on November 8 and has only gotten better with the Neurontin and the TENS unit. The pain is located right next to my bellybutton. It is a sharp, stabbing pain that varies in strength but does not go away. When the stomach pain gets really bad I have trouble catching my breath and start hyperventilating. This will keep going until I pass out. I will then come to and the same thing will happen again. This will keep happening until the pain goes away or my body gets so tired it can't continue.
Chest Pain:
This is a newer symptom it started somewhere around the end of February. It is a squeezing pain around my whole chest making it feel as my upper chest is being constricted. When that pain gets worse there is also a sharp, stabbing pain right over my heart making it feel like I am being stabbed in the heart. I have not found anything that helps with this pain.
Headache:
The headaches are another symptom that have been around from the beginning. The pain is in the front of my head in a full band. It feels like a massive amount of pressure has built up in the front of my head. It will get worse with bright lights and loud sounds. Again we haven't really found anything that helps with the pain. The only thing that sort of helped was Morphine and Sumatriptan, but neither of them really helped so I have discontinued them.
Fainting:
The fainting has gotten progressively worse from the beginning. I will get really dizzy and light headed. Depending on how fast these symptoms come on I will try to sit down before I blackout. I can't always do that however. This has proven to be one of the more dangerous symptoms. I have fallen down the stairs a few times and hit my head on things on my way down.
Temperature Regulation:
The last symptom has been around for a while. I have been having trouble with my feelings of hot and cold. Meaning that I will sometimes just get really cold or hot despite the external temperature. This is due as well to the misfiring nerves.
Extreme Fatigue:
The newest symptom that has developed is extreme fatigue. What happens is my body gets so tired that it starts to shut down and it takes a lot more concentration and effort to do simple tasks like move my fingers. The reason that we believe it happens is that my body is working harder than normal to keep my body in homeostasis,"the tendency of an organism to regulate its internal conditions... so as to stabilize health and functioning, regardless of the outside changing conditions."1 So when I add something like prolonged exercise with out increasing the amount of energy, food, that I am putting into my body it will basically shut down until I have restored the that my body needs to maintain homeostasis and move at the same time.
